There’s no such thing as a completely original idea, everyone builds upon something and takes it to another level.

When Isaac Newton said that the only reason he can see so far is that he was standing on the shoulder of giants, then this is exactly what he meant but said it in a poetic tone.

Everyone steals, from painters to chefs to artists & even the ones who do nothing; like lazy bums like myself, we learn from other procrastinators.

Stealing is a catchphrase in this book to pick your attention. Stealing doesn’t mean plagiarism, that’s plain cheating.

Austin Kleon in this popular book talks about absorbing ideas and building these up and someone else would then build upon yours

A nice short read that doesn’t tread on philosophical boundaries, but rather a simple reminder of how to do great work by observing and building upon the work of the masters of yesteryears, or even yesterday

A line that I loved, in particular, was that we should do great work for its love and not create a business out of it. Share your work, look stupid and learn.

KEY LEARNINGS:

- There’s no such thing as completely original work.
- Start by imitating your heroes and finish by emulating them.
- Don’t abandon your hobbies and side hustles when you refocus on what you love.
- Stay anonymous but later share your work to become known.
- Create an inspiring workplace.
- Value the praise you receive and thank your fans.

Get your copy and enjoy! There’s a follow-up trilogy from the same author to get you into action.
