The 3rd ‘P’ of Marketing is a beast. Tackling one the single largest Pricing Initiative for the Middle East & Africa region was a masterclass in how fostering trust internally and externally gets you success.
The year was 2014, and the company I was part of was on a mission to improve margins. Improving margins meant taking a relook at all the SKUs — some 15,000 of them and doing pricing that would be more transparent, have a logic, and build a system that would be transparent in how rebates and discounts work for the distributors. I guess, as veterans, you already can see the complexity, one is talking about.
