The awesome cup has been a sort of flashback lesson for me and yet another reminder to stay in the present. One can only achieve this by dislodging and emptying the baggage that we’ve carried all through our lives; memories, pains, regrets, heartaches and much more.
Samir Geepee has been able to articulate this complex message through a fictional tale of a college reunion, something that ignited an urge for me to do so before we proceed on our next journey.
While some of our friends are still living in their teenage years and a serious conversation with them is a thing of legend, maybe they’re too scared to reveal their pains and hide behind their inner youth. However, there are others who open up and with their vulnerabilities expose the baggage, the filled cup that’s dragging their development and is an impediment to their happiness.
For me, the idea of Existential Angst, “the whine that societies generate whenever a critical mass of its people is overqualified for everything they can do”, being one of the central themes of the book had been intriguing and it appeared almost at the centre was all the more strategic.
