Sahiwal is an agricultural town in the fertile Punjab province in Pakistan; a slow and serene lifestyle echoed with the hum and melodies of farm life reverberates year around.
Thirty years ago, it used to be even quieter and there a young man dreamt of doing big things and went thousands of miles away to a far-off land to fulfil these and make his country proud. This is the story of Iftikhar Rana and his pursuit of reaching for the stars.
Iftikhar Rana went to Australia in 1993 after getting married armed with a bachelor’s degree where he pursued his MBA program in Sydney.
His initial exposure to the world of finance came with his early jobs in banking but the entrepreneurial spirit lit up that prompted him to start finance and a real estate firm. Pitching in together with friends he took on property development and launched a project for townhouses in 1998 that took off and then the sky was the limit. In 2006 he bought the subsidiary of Habib Bank called Habib Finance Australia and managed it as its chairman until 2016 when it was sold.
In addition to this, he’s also involved in the education business that he started in 2012. He heads various business and social organizations across the country & is a true manifestation of a success story.
